BIAPH runs yearly events that contribute to community engagement, ABI awareness and the development of our support programs. Volunteers seeking to assist us during these events can expect to be involved in the following tasks:
Preparing for, advertising, and/or assisting with post-event duties.
Assisting with administrative duties pre, during and post-event.
HeadSpin is a support group designed for high functioning youth and young adults with an ABI or for individuals who present with similar challenges. The group is centred around community-based leisure activities and encourages social connections.
Volunteers seeking to assist during HeadSpin hours can expect to be involved in the following tasks:
Assist in the preparation for support group meetings
Contribute to the facilitation of support group meetings
Engage with and participate in the activities of the meeting
Accompany the support group during in-person meetings and excursions
BIAPH is committed to ABI awareness and prevention; one of the ways we achieve this is through media outreach. Our organization reaches the ABI community through our website, facebook, instagram and twitter. Volunteers seeking to assist with media outreach can expect to be involved in the following tasks:
Assist in the development of a social media plan
Develop and manage content
Contribute to regular updates of our social platforms
As a non-profit, BIAPH programs are sustained through the generous donations of our supporters. On a yearly basis, BIAPH engages in various fundraising events to ensure our programs can continue for the ABI community. Volunteers seeking to assist with various fundraising opportunities can expect to be involved in the following tasks:
Assist in the development of community fundraising and awareness events
Contribute to ABI awareness initiatives; deliver presentations to stakeholders
Assist during BIAPH fundraisers and contribute to its execution
BIAPH is committed to bridging the gap between research and the ABI community. We will be publishing regular blog posts which focus on simplifying research findings and resources pertaining to the ABI community. Research assistants can expect to be involved in the following tasks:
Conduct literature reviews, and synthesize information
Develop research snapshots and infographics to communicate findings
Work with the media outreach team to present material across social platforms
BIAPH is proudly led by our Volunteer Board of Directors (BOD), who dedicate their time to upholding the mission, vision and values of our organization. Members of the board exemplify positive leadership, and a strong dedication to ABI advocacy and support. As our organization continues to grow, we are also looking to grow our Board of Directors!
