The kick off event and safety assemblies are held every June to coincide with Brain Injury Awareness Month.
Peel Helmets on Kids Community Program, 2018
Many Peel students in grades 3 and 4 will receive free bike helmets through this safety initiative co-ordinated by the Peel Children’s Safety Village. The cost of the helmets has been generously covered by members of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.
Schools are selected based on data from the 2014 Social Risk Index. This year we will be supplying helmets to selected students in grades 3 and 4 in the following schools:
Sir Winston Churchill PS Marvin Heights PS
Oakridge PS Clifton PS
Ray Lawson PS Thornwood PS
Dunrankin PS Ridgewood PS
Lancaster PS Brian W. Fleming PS
Each of the schools participating in the Helmets On Kids initiative will enjoy a 25 minute educational safety assembly at their school presented by Peel Children’s Safety Village staff. School staff pre-select students to receive a helmet who may not otherwise be able to acquire one.
Thank you 2018 sponsors:

The Helmets on Kids Program is an initiative that started ten years ago, to provide helmets to children who are unable to obtain them due to financial restrictions.
After showing students how to properly fit a bike helmet “Officer Michelle” (Cst. Michelle Vivian) walked them through the rules of the road including proper hand signals while riding a bicycle.
