This group has been designed for high functioning individuals with an ABI or for people who present with similar challenges.  Our members typically struggle with social isolation and lack a sense of belonging.  The group is centred around community-based leisure activities with the intent to encourage social connection.  Several of the members have begun to develop friendships outside of this group.  The age range is approximately 18- late 30s.  Driven by the client’s interests, we facilitate 2 programs each month, typically on a Thursday.  Some examples: cooking class, billiards, out for dinner, paint night, volunteering, games night etc.   We have been fortunate to be awarded a Trillium grant, so programs are subsidized but not fully covered.  The members pay a fee for each activity depending on the cost, anywhere between 5-$25.00 – $10.00 is quite typical.

There are typically 3 facilitators.

The client/ referral source must complete demographic forms prior to joining the group, the information provided will help us determine what we offer will meet the needs of each client and the group.
