Happy Spring! After a few winters of being spoiled with unusually mild temperatures this past winter is lingering on. As announced last year, the 2013 tournament will be the last time we gather for our traditional day of golf and friendship in support of a great cause. I am very proud of what we have accomplished. The tournament has raised $ 95,000 over the past nine years. Even though our numbers have been decreasing, the tournament continues to have the support of a circle of friends.

Thank you so much for your support. Golf4Yuri 2012 raised $11,300 for the Yuri Mutiger Caregiver Relief Program.

These contributions were from individual donors, participants and our generous sponsors. The 2012 event sponsors were:  QRC Logistics – Golf Carts, Help Unlimited – Dinner, Pace Law Firm – Dessert. Thank you to the two Gold Hole Sponsors – Borgfeldt (Canada) Ltd. and The Gladwish Family, and to the 17 individual hole sponsors.

A million thanks to everyone who has helped and volunteered over the past nine years.  I would like to especially acknowledge George Anderson, Dean Livingston and Erica Antoniou who have supported me continuously to make the tournament a success.

The public’s awareness of Acquired Brain Injuries has increased tremendously since we started supporting this cause. Even though there is in general an increased understanding of the often devastating and lingering consequences of this “invisible injury” there is still much that remains to be done.  One of the challenges is that as no two persons are the same, so is the case with brain injuries. They do not affect people the same and prognosis for recovery is often very subjective and unpredictable. This injury does not just happen to the injured person but also their families and friends – the caregivers. Once again, the tournament proceeds go directly to the YURI MUITGER CAREGIVER RELIEF PROGRAM.

This year there are four ways to register and donate to Golf4Yuri:

1.   Register using the online form found at

2.   Register using PAYPAL from the BIAPH website.  Please make sure to complete the event registration section before paying.

3.  Register by printing the registration form, completing the information including Credit Card information and email a scanned completed form to:

4. Register by printing the registration form and mail the completed form with Credit Card information or a cheque to:    Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton, 2155 Leanne Blvd., Suite 204, Mississauga, ON L5K 2K8

We have again managed to avoid an increase in our fees, thanks to the support of Caledon Golf and Country Club! Please see the registration form for information about sponsorship opportunities and pricing. If you are in a position to donate prizes to the silent auction or raffle, please let us know. For organizational purposes, I would very much appreciate if you would let me know the items and approximate value prior to the tournament.

Please visit:  for information about the tournament. For more information about the Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton, please visit:

This being our last hurrah, I am hoping for a good turn-out. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Remember, your foursome cannot be confirmed before you have all paid.

Your kindness and commitment is truly appreciated.

Most sincerely,

Jorun Rucels
